Theme months continue at Zone Agtech. With the aim of offering a rich program of events in tune with the challenges faced by our members, the Agtech Zone is offering a month of May with the theme of innovation development: greenhouses and agriculture in controlled environments (AEC), presented byLes industries Harnois.
What is innovation in greenhouses and controlled environment agriculture?
The COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have shaken supply chains, amplifying the need for new models to emerge. As a result, food autonomy, in Quebec as elsewhere, has become a priority. Greenhouses and controlled-environment agriculture are just some of the solutions we recommend to achieve this goal. Indeed, as an industry geared towards more sustainable production and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, through the use of renewable energies to heat its facilities (biomass, electricity, geothermal energy, etc.), greenhouse and controlled environment farming promises to be highly profitable for Quebec's agricultural sector. By 2020, this innovation is expected to create thousands of jobs in 546 greenhouse fruit and vegetable businesses in Quebec. This month, join us as we plunge into the world of greenhouse and controlled environment agriculture (CEA), and discover all its benefits by taking part in our May activities.
In order to enrich Agtech Zone members' knowledge of current innovation development, the team has put together a comprehensive program focusing on greenhouses and AEC :
