Summer hasn’t slowed down the Agtech Zone’s momentum. Quite the contrary! July was marked by a series of initiatives that demonstrate the dynamism of our ecosystem and our commitment to accelerating agricultural innovation in Quebec. From raising our international profile to creating new opportunities for businesses, sharing knowledge, and recruiting talent, the Agtech Zone continues its mission to connect innovation stakeholders and provide exceptional support to the companies shaping the future of agriculture.
Our team attended Startupfest, one of North America’s leading innovation events. The event provided an opportunity to showcase the Agtech Zone’s expertise to entrepreneurs, investors, and partners from across the region, while creating new opportunities for collaboration within our ecosystem.
This event also served as an excellent showcase for the companies in our Thrive Go Global: Québec cohort, who were able to present their innovations and expand their networks in an environment conducive to business opportunities. Our traditional happy hour brought together many members of the entrepreneurial community, confirming once again the Agtech Zone’s ability to bring together the key players driving innovation forward.
July also marked the launch of the Lanaudière Agtech Challenges, a flagship initiative that bridges the gap between the needs of farmers in the Lanaudière region and the solutions developed by Quebec technology companies.
This new edition features 23 practical challenges, offering companies a unique opportunity to validate their technologies directly in the field and accelerate their time to market. This collaborative approach perfectly illustrates the strength of the Agtech Zone: building bridges between innovators and users to accelerate the adoption of promising technologies.

Preparations for the 6th edition of “The Great Discussion: Productions of the Future” are officially underway! The event is scheduled for October 1, 2026, and will bring together key players in agricultural innovation to discuss the issues that will shape the sector’s future.

In anticipation of the opening of the Agriscience and Agritechnology Innovation Center, the Agtech Zone has begun assembling a network of experts-in-residence who will enhance the support services offered to members and companies that will set up operations in the complex.
By bringing together complementary expertise in research, human resources, financing, technology transfer, and business development, the Agtech Zone aims to offer even more comprehensive and personalized support, tailored to the various stages of a company’s development. This 360° approach will allow innovators to benefit, all in one place, from exclusive access to cutting-edge expertise and a strategic network to advance their projects, accelerate their growth, and maximize the impact of their innovations. The Nexterre program has generated significant interest among innovative companies, with no fewer than 46 applications received in response to the call for projects. Throughout July, our team reviewed all the applications to identify the projects with the greatest potential that align with the program’s objectives. This level of engagement once again demonstrates the vitality of Quebec’s innovation and clean technology ecosystem.
The selected companies will be announced on September 3: stay tuned to find out which projects will be part of the first Nexterre cohort!
With the opening of the Agriscience and Agritechnology Innovation Center approaching, the Agtech Zone continues to grow and is seeking an R&D and Technology Transfer Advisor. This new hire will play a key role in supporting businesses by managing the Center’s laboratories and facilitating the development, testing, and transfer of technologies.
This recruitment marks an important milestone in the development of the Agtech Zone. With the arrival of this new innovation hub, we are strengthening our ability to offer state-of-the-art infrastructure and increasingly specialized support to companies developing the agricultural solutions of tomorrow.

In early July, our team also attended the demonstration day for automated weeding technologies in vegetable farming in Saint-Clotilde.
These events are essential for accelerating the adoption of new technologies by allowing producers to observe them in real-world conditions, interact with their developers, and assess their potential for their own businesses. It is this close connection between innovation and the field that is the strength of the Zone Agtech ecosystem.

Innovation also depends on international collaborations. In July, the Agtech Zone was represented in Chicago at IFT FIRST, an event organized by the Institute of Food Technology, to strengthen ties with strategic partners and showcase Quebec’s expertise to influential organizations in the sector.
