Demonstration of Potato Production Technologies

Demonstration of Potato Production Technologies

The Horticultural Innovation Expertise Network, in collaboration with the Quebec Potato Growers Association, MVG Farms, and Laval University, invites you to a demonstration day focused on potato production technologies.

For this event, three technologies will be showcased under real-world production conditions: HarvestEye, Eqomodul, and RAIN 360. The equipment needed for the demonstrations will be generously provided by MVG Farms and the Yves Barré Farm.

This event will give producers and industry stakeholders the opportunity to discover various technological solutions, observe how they work in the field, and discuss their use and potential in potato production with the companies and specialists in attendance.

Schedule for the Day

9:00 a.m. – Welcome reception, coffee, and networking

9:30 a.m. – Opening Remarks

9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Presentation and demonstration of technologies

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Free lunch provided by the event's partners

Featured Technologies

1. HarvestEye –Real-time crop analysis

HarvestEye uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to analyze potatoes and quickly provide harvest data. Two configurations of the technology will be presented:

HarvestEye Handheld: a portable device that quickly analyzes potato samples and provides data on their size and weight.

HarvestEye On-Conveyor: Installed on a conveyor, the system analyzes potatoes in motion in real time to provide data on size and yield prior to grading.

The technology will be presented by Laval University as part of an evaluation study conducted in collaboration with the REIH.

2. Eqomodul –Water Optimization for Treatment Processes

Eqomodul is a water filtration and conditioning system that adapts water to the characteristics of the plant protection products and biostimulants being used. By maintaining the active ingredients under conditions that promote their stability, the technology aims to preserve the products’ effectiveness, improve spraying performance, and optimize treatments.

3. 360 RAINPrecision Irrigation

360 RAIN is an irrigation technology that allows for targeted water application in the field. Participants will be able to see the system in operation and learn more about its use in potato production.

Please note:The RAIN 360 demonstration will take place at a second location approximately 10 km from the demonstration site. You will therefore need to travel by car to attend this part of the day.

This activity is intended for potato growers, advisors, researchers, and industry stakeholders who wish to discover innovative solutions and better understand how to apply them under Quebec’s growing conditions.
