L’ASSOMPTION, October 13, 2026 — The Agtech Zone will virtually host Vincent Martin, Director of the Innovation Office at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to open the7th Great Discussion: Future Production, on October 22 in Repentigny. His participation will bring an international perspective to the discussions on the resilience of food systems and evolving production methods.
His presentation will focus in particular on current and future challenges in agricultural production, the regions most vulnerable to climate change, and government strategies to strengthen food security. International initiatives promoting technological progress, including controlled-environment agriculture, will also be among the topics discussed.
By bringing together producers, technology companies, researchers, investors, and government representatives, the Agtech Zone bridges the gap between on-the-ground needs, scientific expertise, and the capital required to develop new solutions.
This initiative helps to position Quebec’s expertise within international discussions on the future of food. It also fosters the collaborations needed to transform scientific advances into practical applications tailored to economic and climate realities.
Presented by Sobeys, the Great Discussion will address automation and artificial intelligence, energy, water and input management, loss reduction, and crop profitability in controlled environments.
Located in the L’Assomption RCM, the Agtech Zone is developing an ecosystem dedicated to agricultural and plant technologies as well as bioproducts, by supporting organizations that are helping to transform practices in the sector.
