2ND EDITION OF THE GRAND COLLOQUE AGTECH DU QUÉBEC | The Zone Agtech unveils the program for the annual meeting of innovative agricultural technologies in Quebec.
L’Assomption RCM, September 16, 2021 – The Zone Agtech is pleased to announce the 2nd edition og the Grand Colloque Agtech du Québec (GCAQ), intended to showcase Quebec’s expertise and know-how in technological innovation in the agricultural and agrifood sector. Presented by the pan-Canadian research center INO, in partnership with the Quebec company Vooban, the event, which will be held from October 26 to 28 in virtual mode, will welcome more than 40 experts from the agricultural industry and innovative agricultural technologies in order to accelerate the development and integration of new Quebec technologies in the sector.
Simultaneously translated, the 2021 edition of the GCAQ will welcome experts, panelists and participants from Quebec and abroad to discuss three major themes: the issues and challenges facing the agricultural sector in Quebec, expertise and technological advances offered by Quebec in agtech and plant bioproducts and the best practices for financing and marketing agtech in Quebec and internationally. Also providing for a virtual networking platform, this is an annual event not to be missed for those who wish to develop their network of contacts in the ecosystem.
« In less than 2 years, the Zone Agtech and its Agtech Community [more than 200 members in Quebec] has found its place within the agricultural ecosystem of Quebec and the international agtech industry. We are delighted to organize this 2nd edition and to expand its scope internationally this year, specifies Marilou Cyr, Zone Agtech’s director. Thanks to this annual event, businesses from here and elsewhere are discovering to what extent Quebec can play an important role in this global industry to overcome the challenges that the agricultural sector is and will increasingly face.
« Today, the agri-food is faced with many challenges, including respect for the environment, labor shortages, the management of fruits and vegetables production or even chain automation.
At INO, our role is to make innovations a reality and we are happy to join the Zone Agtech for this major annual meeting and thus promote knowledge transfer and networking in the agtech ecosystem. », announces Mario Simard, director – advanced manufacturing business unit at INO
« The agriculture industry is one of the most automated industries currently. Today, producers are constantly looking for solutions to improve their production, harvests and inventory management. AI combined with data management are the new tools that empower businesses to make decisions. », underlines Hugues Foltz, executive vice-president of Vooban.
Once again this year, many key players in the sector will come together at conferences, panels and virtual networking sessions to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the sector. Indeed, the pandemic has highlighted the importance of finding solutions to alleviate the labor shortage, but also the importance of acquiring more efficient innovations to produce fruits and vegetables in all climatic conditions, and this to increase food autonomy and adapt to climate change.
The 2021 program offers a variety of themes, ranging from field automation technologies to traceability and cold chain management, including plant bioproducts, alternative proteins and cultivation technologies in a controlled environment. The Zone Agtech offers advantageous pricing for students and corporate packages for companies wishing to invite their clients. Registration is now open at www.zoneagtech.ca.
