Quebec Premier and Member of Parliament for L'Assomption, François Legault, is resigning from his position. He announced the news during a press briefing held at his office in the Quebec City parliament.

The Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for L'Assomption has made his decision and will not be leading the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) in the upcoming provincial election this October. During a press briefing, he added that he did not want to overshadow the party during the election: "People are saying they no longer want me in the political spotlight. So, I have decided to step down and will remain in office until my successor is known, but this process will have to be quick."
