L’Assomption, April 3, 2023 – Pursuing its vision of becoming a world-class innovation zone in agtech and plant bioproducts, Zone Agtech is deploying a series of structuring projects in the heart of its geolocated ecosystem in the MRC of L’Assomption this year to strengthen the distinction of its ecosystem on a global scale. Building on its recognized dynamism and proactivity, it will initiate, with the support of the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF) and several of its local partners, a process to mobilize global players to implement distinctive strategic offensives aimed at supporting agtech and plant bioproducts companies in their demonstration and market transfer phases.

First off, two strategic sectors will be affected by this approach: controlled environment agriculture and agri-biotech. It will then migrate to the other strategic verticals of Zone Agtech, specifically agriculture 4.0, plant bioproducts and emerging food production.

“This new project will consolidate the current levers deployed in the Zone Agtech with an innovative offer that will meet the precise needs expressed by the industry, both locally and internationally,” mentioned Marilou Cyr, Executive Director of Zone Agtech. It will allow our companies and partners to access expertise, relationships, knowledge and visibility that will stimulate intellectual property development locally, investment, job creation, export growth and the positioning of our ecosystem and positioning our ecosystem as a Canadian leader in agtech and plant bioproducts.”

About the MRIF call for projects

The Ministry of international Relations and Francophonie (MRIF) launched in December 2022 a first call for projects for organizations in the regional economic ecosystem. This call for projects reflects the Ministry’s desire to revitalize its ties with the regions and aims to support the deployment of Quebec’s International Vision throughout Quebec. Economic players in various regions are invited to submit proposals of international scope that will contribute to the development of their territory. The Ministère des Relations Internationales et de la Francophonie is allocating a total of $150,000 over one year to six projects submitted by organizations in Quebec’s regional economic ecosystem as part of this call for projects.
